Stop motion
Criteria
Motivation/personal interest
My Personal Project will be about Stop Motion. When I first started thinking about what I wanted to do for my Personal Project I had many ideas, such as creating an app or making a book. In the end, I decided to change my thinking process. I wanted to do something which I had done once or twice before and had enjoyed immensely. When I started thinking about it long enough I came up with Stop Motion. I had done Stop Motion in my final year of Primary school. At that time my Stop Motion video was not a success and therefore I thought this is what I wanted to do. I have yet to be successful in developing and promising, thought out Stop Motion video.
Once I had decided my main topic would be about Stop Motion, I started to think about what type of goal I want to create for this project. After long consideration, I had decided to
Make a Stop Motion video with only materials that I recycled myself
This was very personal to me since I have been thinking a lot about the environment and have become more conscious about the consequences of my actions, such as throwing plastic on the ground instead of the recycling bin. Since recentlty I have been very busy with educating myself on the everlasting effect one plastic straw could do to the sea creatures living in the ocean for example. This has to do with my Global context Globalization and Sustainability.

Process/planning
I wanted my stop motion video to be more about philosophical and more about a concept. My concept had to do with a story, I am telling a story through my stop motion video. However, after thinking about climate change and how it is not over I decided to make my video look a bit incomplete. I made my product in the video look incomplete to look like nothing to represent that it does not matter what you make how you recycle if you do not create a change.

I started collecting sources for my personal project. I started by asking my design teachers who teach about Stop motion as a unit and invite people who are professionals who teach and work with stop motion for a living. Other than sources from my teachers and experts, I also collected two books from my school library. “Stop-motion Animation second edition” by Barry J C Purves an English animation director and screenwriter who was nominated for BAFTA Award for the Best Short Animation and an Oscar for the best short animation film. In the second edition, the key topics are to do with the most important elements in filming a Stop Motion video. Then for my second book, I have collected “The Art of Stop-Motion Animation” by Ken A. Priebe which was a foreword by Mike Johnsen who was the Co-director of Corpse Bride and nominated for the Oscar for the best short Animation Film. Together they created a book for beginners on how to start and what tools you would need when you start. This was the first research I did into stop-motion about how to start my process.
Process taking action
When I started my taking action process I started with downloading the Stop motion studio in the apple store. It was an app I had used before and was familiar with. Then I started the official process, I grabbed all the materials I had taken over the span of a few weeks and started placing them into sections. Plastic, Paper, Metal, other. These four categories were how I divided the materials before use. Then while looking at all the materials I had I started sketching out how they would be used in the plan. I used old news papers for the background
